I'm working on a new Matt Talbot ...

May 2, 1856 - June 7, 1925

I feel like I have to keep painting him until I meet him again ...

Song for this post here.

  1. Google Gavin Bryers arrangement of Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet. For some reason it makes me think of Matt Talbot.

    1. Oh my word. I'm typing blind here. Here's a video from Youtube, with the man singing and the words of Gavin Bryars below explaining how it all came about. God bless you, Angela, one of the most moving things I've ever come across. Matt Talbot holds a very, very special spot in my heart... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1lnSi7QWY8

    2. It's an anointed piece of work, isn't it.

  2. Of all your paintings that I've seen, the one of Matt Talbot is my favorite.

    1. Thanks much Bill - I have 2 but I think you mean the most recent on. There is something I'm trying catch about him, a look. Not sure if I can.

    2. It's the one seen here, Terry, though I think the face of your other one (of an older Matt, with bridge in background) is extraordinary -- like your Bl. Rolando Rivi. It's that gold halo and the little image of the Virgin in the corner that do it for me.
