Do you do things - like make a film - just for the awards?



The Academy Awards and the flood of award shows...

Seriously, is that why people make films (or any art) now?  Just to get nominated for an award - with the hope - the intent - to win Best in Show?

Nominees for Academy Awards are celebrating their nominations while other celebrities are complaining they weren't nominated.  Why do they care?  Money for one thing - box office.  Fame and critical acclaim means more work - more money.  Not to overlook the fact social change and political propaganda sticks it's influential grasp in the mix as well.

Fashion, art, cinema, theater, music: "the worthless are prized highly by the sons of men."
