Racism is only part of the story ... It may be more of "A bit of the old ultra-violence."

Did you ever see Clockwork Orange?

In a near-futuristic society, late teen Alex DeLarge is the leader of a gang of thugs - his "droogs" - who commit acts of ultra-violence, often with sexual components, without any regard for their victims, and purely because it strikes their collective fancies. These acts are largely fueled by drug use. - Synopsis
Late '60's.

The 1940's had a lot going on too.

  1. From the first reading at Mass this morning: We know that we are God's children, and that the whole world lies under the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. ~ 1 John 5

    2. For the last few weeks I've been asked to read the first reading and psalm at Saturday morning Mass. It makes a difference to my understanding of the passage to speak it out loud instead of just reading it.

  2. Where is the famed Black Lives Matter crowd? Why are they not outraged at this senseless act of violence? Why are they not holding these folks accountable?

I am thinking that if white folks had committed this ugly crime, why they would be outraged ... burning cars, looting stores - all while making the 6 o'clock news on CNN.

Prayers for the poor man tortured as well as for these poor tortured souls.
